Rewilding America Now hosts Cornell University's Brooks School of Public Policy for experiential learning, offering students a unique opportunity to study rewilding efforts up-close and to learn directly from local stakeholders and Indigenous communities.
Experiential Learning
This community-engaged learning course offers students a unique opportunity to study rewilding efforts up-close through site visits to the Dakotas and consultations with experts and local stakeholders, including Indigenous communities.
Main Course
The main curriculum covers the ecological science behind rewilding, examining a series of case studies of rewilding in the United States and Europe, with a particular emphasis on the management of wild horses on federal lands and efforts to reintroduce predators. Students conduct original research into how rewilding concepts can be integrated into new policy solutions for pressing national environmental management challenges.
Policy Proposal
Former Congressman Steve Israel accompanies students to Washington D.C. to meet with congressional staffers with jurisdiction over land use and environmental policy to present their research findings and policy proposals.
