Our Bees

Bees are one of, if not the most, important pollinators on the planet. Long Island has many kinds of native species of bees that help pollinate, but none that are as sweet as Honey Bees.

Not all non-native species are “invasive” and even though the “Honey Bee” (Apis mellifera) is originally from Europe they are one of the most treasured and valued species that, like the horse are a “global” species and contribute to the environment anywhere they go.

At Rewilding America Now's Rewilding Space, we have built pollinator paths throughout the farm for the honey bees to pollinate and thrive. Through these efforts along with our Honey Bee meadow and rain meadow, we have invited numerous species of pollinators from bees to birds to pollinate and who now call this home.
